INTRODUCTION

Through the implementation of a monitoring system, A. Lecompte et Fils Inc. aims to demonstrate its commitment t o meeting quality objectives while continually improving the services it provides.

Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation, two subsidiaries of A. Lecompte et Fils Inc. are all locate d within the same place of business, provide industrial production machinery maintenance services as well as ind ustrial control and automation services, and are an integral part of the company’s quality system. A. Lecompte & Fils Inc., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation aim to apply their quality system in a comprehens ive fashion andthereby offer services of the highest quality in an effort to meet their clients’ needs.

The company has developed clear and comprehensive procedures to facilitate the application of the quality system and maximize productivity. This quality system is used in all installation work carried out by A. Lecompte et Fi ls Inc., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation. A coordination committee reviews and makes sure th at the existing system meets the needs and requirements of the companies. Internal audits ensure that all worker s effectively apply the system in order to provide the highest level of quality. The application of a quality sy stem is not a reward for a job well done, but rather an ongoing commitment promoting and fostering continual imp rovement within the company.

QUALITY POLICY

Aware of the demands brought by the modernization and globalization of markets, A. Lecompte et Fils Inc., Servi ces d'Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation have worked together to set common objectives.

THESE OBJECTIVES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Stand apart from the competition in terms of the services we provide to our clients;
  • Develop a partnership with our clients, suppliers and employees in an effort to increase productivity and mo tivation in the workplace; and to foster team spirit;
  • Provide the training, information and tools required to meet our objectives;
  • Prevent rather than correct problems. This approach puts the emphasis on searching for solutions as a means of ensuring ongoing improvement rather than focusing on identifying the cause of the problem;

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

A quality policy serves to define and represent the company’s vision with regards to quality and to characterize themeans to achieve this vision. This policy is intended for all staff at every level of the organization and pr ovides guidelines as to how the quality system should be structured.

At A. Lecompte et Fils Inc., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation, the responsibilities of our te am members involved in the operating of the quality system are detailed in the procedure called “Responsibilitie s and Authority.” A quality system flowchart is included in the procedure to demonstrate the functional relation ship betweenthe different parties involved.

The coordination committee holds an annual meeting in order to evaluate the quality system. This evaluation ensu res that the existing quality system is effective, that it is properly applied and that it remains in keeping wi th the objectives of the company’s quality policy. The “Management Review” procedure provides a detailed explana tion of activities undertaken during this meeting as well as the main topics addressed. This meeting also provid es the opportunity for defining the company’s quality objectives for the next year

QUALITY SYSTEM

The common objective at A. Lecompte et Fils Inc., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation is to prov ide their clients with a set-up that meet their needs. The leading policy of the company and its subsidiaries is to continually strive to meet this objective while maintaining an effective quality system that is in line with the whole of the company’s operations.

The Quality Director, along with all other department heads, is mandated with defining, approving, as well as pl anning and ensuring the follow-up of all inspection and testing activities carried out at A. Lecompte et Fils In c., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation. The Installation, Inspection and Testing Plan defines t he company’s operational processes and outlines the principal activities and operations carried out in different sectors.

THIS QUALITY SYSTEM IS METHODICALLY DOCUMENTED AS FOLLOWS:

  • THE QUALITY MANUAL:

    A manual that describes the quality system through written procedures.

  • QUALITY SYSTEM MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES:

    Written procedures that state the objective, field of application, responsibilities, methodology and documentation for each of the requirements of the quality system. These procedures are a detailed “how-to” of each activity.

  • TOOLS:

    Documents used to facilitate management of the quality system, of information and records.

TO ENSURE THAT THE QUALITY SYSTEM IS EFFECTIVELY APPLIED, THE COMPANY REQUIRES THAT:

  • Specific training be given;
  • All required documentation (manuals, procedures, forms) be available at appropriate areas;
  • Department heads be provided with a regular follow-up;
  • The internal audit team perform regular follow-ups and internal audits;
  • Management be re-assessed annually.

The “Quality System” procedure describes the system developed by the company.

The Quality Director is fully responsible for implementing and updating the quality system documentation. A. Lecompte et Fils Inc., Services d’Entretien S.G.M. Inc. and SGM Automation’s quality system is continually updated and keeps up with changes in the company’s services and operations.
